Apa Selepas 16 September…..

Sekarang masanya rakyat Sarawak mahupun Sabah berhenti seketika dan bertanya , dimana kah hala tuju kita selepas 47 tahun bersama Malaysia . Dalam tulisan Karim Raslan ( the STAR , Ceritalah..) paling tepat mengumpaskan kehampaan rakyat bersama Malaysia .

” Time to address 47 years of neglect . It will take more than just granting holidays or constant reassurance  of goodwill . Sabah and Sarawak deserve their share of the nation’s wealth and attention . ”

“Furthermore , the respective points of the two agreements have to be adhered to .”

“The resources of these two states must reach the ground directly . The political elites in Sarawak have gorged themselves while the people have suffered .”

“In Malaysia such naked abuse of power and greed will meet with defeat sooner or later .”

“Even after 47 years being part of Malaysia , they are still waiting for the time when the 20 points Agreement wiill be fully fulfilled …warned that there is a limit to the patience Sabahans/Sarawakians just like the people of Kelantan , Perak  , Kedah , Selangor and Pulau Pinang who made their unhappiness known through the ballot box . ”

Maka marilah kita menjadi agen perubahan bermula dengan piliharaya Sarawak !!

Sabahans and Sarawakians should wake up

By Zaid Ibrahim

COMMENT It is 53 years since Malaya became independent; and 47 years since Sarawak and Sabah and Malaya combined to form the Federation of Malaysia. The imperative word here is “formed” Malaysia; Sabah and Sarawak did not join Malaysia.

But for too long, people in Sabah and Sarawak have been made to feel like they are the children of a lesser god. And for too long, even in Semenanjung, many of us have been made to feel like the children of a lesser god – just because we do not agree with the Barisan Nasional’s policies.

Since the political tsunami of March 2008, when the Barisan Nasional lost its two-thirds majority and also five states in the Semenanjung, suddenly East Malaysia has become a very important battlefield for politicians.

Suddenly, every Datuk, Datin, Tan Sri and Puan Sri from Barisan Nasional is making frequent trips to Sabah and Sarawak. Suddenly, in a by-election in Sibu, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister come and go as if Kuala Lumpur and Sibu were the same distance as Kuching and Petra Jaya. And only now they know how to say: “Lu tolong gua; gua tolong lu.”

But I am sure you know why everyone is making a beeline for East Malaysia, including us in the Pakatan Rakyat.

There are two reasons – for the BN, you are their fixed deposit, the two states which allowed them to remain in power at federal level. To us, in Pakatan Rakyat, you are the decider in whether Malaysia sees a new dawn, a new beginning, a fresh start from the corruption, nepotism, abuse of power that we have seen the BN indulge in all these years.

But even the term fixed deposit, to me, is an insult to the people of East Malaysia. It’s as if whatever the BN leadership in Kuala Lumpur does, the people in Sarawak and Sabah will like tame pets just vote the BN again and again.

We, on the other hand, are asking you to throw off the shackles and show the BN, like the people in Sibu did, that we have had enough. No more; we want change now.

There are expectations that the Pakatan will improve on their 2008 performance. Talk is rife about the possibility of the opposition taking over federal power and the prospect of that new dawn. By some calculation, a 9% swing is all it requires for the opposition to form the government; a task that is difficult but not far fetched as some Umno leaders would like us to believe.

Make the change

Sabah and Sarawak were somewhat untouched by the tsunami of 2008; but for the 13th general election, you will play a pivotal role and it is you who will determine if the change is at all possible.

Collectively, Sabah and Sarawak control almost 25% the total number of seats in Parliament. Not only that; there are constitutional safeguards which require consent from Sabah and Sarawak before any major constitutional changes are effected; hence their ability to influence major policy changes.

Of course, those who are not aware of history will say East Malaysia’s share of seats are disproportionate to the population. But what many in Putrajaya have forgotten is that this was the incentive given to lure them to form the Federation of Malaysia.

Unfortunately over the years both Sabah and Sarawak leaders seemed less interested in “federal politics” and did not take interest in fundamental policy issues affecting the country.

They were not even interested to defend the rights of the states so long as they were given free reign to make money. There were content just becoming the BN’s watchdog in the respective states.

They are more preoccupied with mundane activities like making money; making more money, and making tons of money; in enriching themselves and their families; in buying properties in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and London; and in exploiting the vast and rich natural resources of the State.

Is it not time now that the citizens of Sarawak and Sabah change the subservient politics which has characterised the way these two states have conducted themselves?

To do that we need active, strong and well coordinated and united opposition political parties in Sabah and Sarawak to complement the strength of the opposition parties in Peninsular. Until we have such a strong and united opposition in Sabah and Sarawak, federal power will continue to elude us.

How to make the change?

How do you make yourself a cohesive political force that can alter the course of our nation’s history?

How can you bring about the changes in local politics and assume power after many years of BN abuse?

These are the challenges you are faced with but which I believe you can overcome. I am not an expert in local politics but will venture a few suggestions.

Firstly the Dayaks who form the majority in Sarawak must really want change. They must feel in their veins that they no longer wish to endure the indignity and the economic hardship they continue to suffer under the BN Rule.

They must recognise that they can play a bigger role; in fact a leadership role in the future of Sarawak. They can; if they have the will’ to uplift the sordid conditions in which their people live.

They must reject the politics of money where handouts are given each time the BN wants their vote.

Take their money and reject them, like the people of Sibu did. They must want to rule and determine their own future and not leave their destiny in the hands of political warlords who are also proxies of federal leaders.

How can the Dayaks, the Chinese, the Melanaus and the Malays not see the need to work together for their common good; to stop the plunder of NCR lands, the wastage and corruption as exemplified by the Bakun Dam project?

There are educated and politically committed Dayaks and other bumiputeras who should be able to galvanise a united force against BN, but they must do that now. We use to have Temenggong Jugah, Stephen Kalong Ningkan, and Tawi Sli and others as leaders but where are the Dayaks now?

Secondly the opposition groups in Sabah and Sarawak must learn to trust one another and to have a new political culture of consensus building; that puts value on unity; that accepts ethnic diversity and having genuine interest to help the people.

This means the politics of dominance by one group over another must be rejected. This means rich towkays must not be allowed to control the course of politics. If you have suffered by the dominance and abuse of federal power; and if you have suffered in the hands of authoritarian leaders; then you must not make the same mistake by selecting leaders who will do the same under a different name.

You must learn to trust one another rather resorting to the easy way out of cavorting with federal leaders, or getting blessings of leaders in Kuala Lumpur.

You cannot raise and speak for your people if you are afraid to speak and stand up for yourself.

Change the leadership

Change is not about changing leaders; what matters is about changing to right kind of leadership.

We live in a complex multi ethnic and multi religious country. We live in a Malaysia today that has shown visible signs of being schizophrenic; racists, prejudiced and fascistic in its behaviour.

We have to show a leadership that is different from BN, a leadership that will put a stop to this madness; the leadership that wants to change the course of the nation where we can and should treat all Malaysians as equals , where we practice real democracy, and where the rule of just laws are available to all citizens.

We want a governmentthat respects the rights and the dignity of its people.

Sabah and Sarawak now have the golden opportunity to restore political power in their own hands for the first time since 1963. It’s meaningless to talk of Malaysia Agreement 1963 and to lament how unfairly you have been treated in the last 47 years unless you exercise political leverage at the federal level.

The next election is one golden opportunity to work together in securing such leverage. The question is how much do the Sabah and Sarawak leaders value this leverage?

I am a Malaysian – not an East Malaysian or West Malaysian. To me, a backward Kelantan is as painful a sight as a Sarawak and Sabah left behind by other states.

I want to see Sabah and Sarawak develop and grow into mature democracies; and become economically developed states. I also believe only Sarawakians know what’s best for Sarawak, and only Sabahans know what’s good for Sabah.

I do not subscribe to the view that Sarawak and Sabah should be subservient to federal control; other than in areas clearly stipulated in the Constitution. The spirit of Malaysia Agreement 1963 must be honoured and respected.

The state election is around the corner. You will have the golden opportunity and send them (BN) packing and usher in the new dawn. The choice is yours – whether you want to be making history by propagating change or whether you will be judged by history as those who were afraid to change.

This is a speech delivered by PKR supreme council member Zaid Ibrahim to a group of party members in Kuching on Aug 22, 2010.

Malaysia at the crossroads

There is so much talk of an early election. About 7 million young voters will be eligible to vote come the 13GE.

We all know that once in a few years we are given the opportunity to vote. Why vote? It has no effect on the outcome.

One vote alone may not count but many votes together become a voice to be reckoned with. Let your voice be heard.
This election, more so than others is a vital election because we are at a cross roads. If we get it right we will prosper; if we get it wrong, we will suffer as we have seen in our neighboring countries.

To help you decide please ponder these issues:

Do you think that you have been treated fairly and equally as provided under the Federal Constitution?

Do you think our politicians in power are corrupt?

Do you think our civil service is corrupt?

Do you think the civil servants are incompetent?

Do you think the people in power sets themselves above the law and rule by law instead of rule of law?

Do you think our leadership has lost its way?

Do you think we are getting more & more divided by race, sectarian interests & religion?

Do you think we have a questionable justice system?

Do you think that they are wasting our wealth?

Do you think our children will suffer more?

Do you want to see a momentous change for you and the rest of the citizens?

If you say yes to 3 or more of these issues, don’t you think we need change? YOU CAN MAKE CHANGE HAPPEN!!! Change we can and we must.

Just send this to 10 other relatives or friends and ask them to do the same to 10 of their friends and so on.

By so doing we are enlisting the power of multilevel marketing. Yes the math works and it is awesome.

By the 7th level this message would reach 1,000,000 people. Yes we can make our vote count! Better believe it!! We owe it to ourselves and to our children and to their children.

Internet is a wonderful instrument to bring change and fight authoritarianism peacefully and we must use it for the good of all.

Yes we can bring change, and we must do it as we owe that to our children and grandchildren.

Albert Einstein’s statement “The world is a dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it” is very true and we must not let the evil people rule the country.

The biggest traitors to the nation are those who keep sitting on the fence but grab all the benefits of the efforts of others.

Let us show that ‘Malaysia Boleh’ applies not only to bad things but good as well. It is in our hands to make it happen for ours and our children’s future.
May the force of wisdom be with you.

Thank you

EXCUSE ME PETER

As usual, the typical Barisan Nasional mentality and attitude prevails. And it shows very clearly after elections or by-elections, especially when they lost.

SUPP organising secretary Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui made a statement at a Gawai celebration event a few days ago which ruffled a few feathers (mine included) and really showed that the BN and its leaders really haven’t learnt anything new or have become wise in any way.

“Chin, who is Minister for Energy, Green Technology and Water and Miri MP, said these voters were ungrateful and had forgotten that it was the Barisan government that had given them jobs, good education and a safe country to live in.”

It seems there was an argument over the use of the word “ungrateful” because Peter Chin said he did not say the word or mean it in such a way but many people heard him say the word “hargai” or “tidak menghargai” during his speech. Since most people are not trained linguists, I would assume he meant “ungrateful”.

Whether he used it or not, whether he meant it that way or not, these old bastards still have the same mentality – that they are the boss and we are the staff, that we should be grateful to them and not the other way round.

Sarawak DAP information chief David Wong puts it here:

“Wong said yesterday it was obvious that the SUPP leaders were still living in the past. He said it was not a question of gratitude as it was the voters who put these Barisan leaders in their posts to serve the people.”

Here is a message I’ve repeated many times before and I’ll repeat it again now for the benefit of Peter Chin – The rakyat own this country, the rakyat are this country. We are the boss, you work for us. We put you where you are, so you be grateful to us and do your job properly. Stop all your bullshit and corruption and start doing your job.

BTW Datuk Seri, I’ve been to your house in Miri and I was amazed. That was 20 years ago, I can’t imagine how luxurious it is now. So, please spare us the crap and just do your job or get the hell out and give it to somebody else who would and could serve the people.

Vote Buying

Oleh rakyatownthiscountry.blogspot.com

Lets call a spade a spade. Promising goodies before and during an election is vote buying, plain and simple.

The era of buying political loyalty with schools, promises of new roads, temples or cash handouts is long over.

Don’t call it all the other crap because it’s not. It’s just vote buying. How can you win something and claim performance when you cheated by buying the votes? Who cares if you spent RM200 trying to buy the layman’s vote of RM20 million trying to buy the community with a school, it’s still vote buying.

Why does schools only gets built when there is an election? Schools should be built when schools need to be built. Roads should be built when roads need to be built. Not when politicians need to retain power because power feeds their greedy need for more and more money.

In the case of the Sibu by-election, it is very clear that the people especially the Chinese there thinks differently now of the old vote buying tactics. What does these politicians take us for? Idiots like them?

Like Najib said before, performance. It’s about performance. It’s not just the people and economy that needs to perform, it’s the politicians that needs to perform and they need to perform badly.

Again, let me repeat the whole arrangement between the people and the government, be it BN or PR. The people own this country, the people are this country. We are the boss, you politicians are the workers, you work for us and we tell you what to do because we put you where you are and you are rich because of us. Now go and do your f@#cking jobs and do it right

Selangors-top-cop-talks-cock

Oleh rakyatownthiscountry.blogspot.com

Here we go again. Total disregard and disrespect for the boss. how many times must these people be reminded who is boss, who needs to be respected. We the people are the boss, the police are the servant. That is why you are called government servant because you serve the country which is the people.

After the IGP opened his mouth without thinking, now we have the Selangor top cock..err..cop..shooting his mouth off also. He’s saying..

There seems to be a concerted effort by certain quarters to get children and youths to hate the police, Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar claimed.

Nobody needs to do anything to make people hate the police, the police are doing fine making people hate them with all their crappy attitude and behavior from making unnecessary roadblocks causing massive traffic jams to talking rudely to the public to flaunting their powers as if they own the universe. And lets not forget my favorite – shooting innocent people dead and lying about it afterwards.

“Here we are trying our very best to build bridges with the public and getting them to assist us in crime prevention, but on the other hand, there are people out there instigating youths, especially teenagers, to hate us,” he said when contacted Wednesday.

Like I said, you’re doing it all by yourself. This outburst, like your boss, makes it plain to see that you are all useless. You can’t do your jobs and just shut up. If you don’t like it, get another job. And here he is at his best trying to cover up the shooting of Aminulrasyid.

He said at no time did the police accuse Amimulrasyid of being a suspected criminal.

He said what his officers had stated at the time of the incident was that the policemen in the patrol car acted in the manner they did because they thought the people in the car they were chasing were suspected to be criminals.

He said they didn’t accuse Aminulrasyid as being a suspected criminal but then again “..they thought the people in the car they were chasing were suspected to be criminals.” What the f@#k is he trying to say? Is he trying to confuse us or is he trying to cover it up?

At the end of the day, somebody died. And he was NOT a criminal, suspected or not. Just f@#cking apologise lah. What is wrong with these f@*ckers anyway? They’ve been so protected and been able to do their shit for so long that they feel they are invincible, untouchable, they can do whatever they like, they can terrorise us and nothing happens. Even when an innocent child is dead, they still behave like this.

Now, can anybody tell me, do we need to instigate hate towards them or not? Or are they doing just fine without us?

Sibu Berubah ! Sarawak Boleh ?

Marilah kita semua bersama-sama jadi agen perubahan . Hidup Rakyat..

Tahniah Zaid Ibrahim . Rakyat ‘menang’ !

Ingin saya mengulas sedikit tentang pilihanraya kecil Hulu Selangor .

Marilah membuat perubahan bersama .
